 Intro

Part 1

Part 2

We start out part two by reviewing the part 2 beer, which was damn near a wine. Assuming that Doug manages to do something with the beer blog you can read more about it there. We give a big thanks to our listeners and answer a lot of questions and respond to comments. Thank you to everyone who submitted, Max also tries to redeem himself from misspelling physicists in a previous podcast. Spoiler alert, he will have to keep redeeming himself.

Our first main science topic (there was a brief spot on the Rosetta spacecraft and 67P) of the night involves talking (debating/arguing) about the James Webb Space Telescope and what wavelengths it can see in. We know it's infrared but we digress about where IR ends.  We settle that the limit is 1mm and that the cosmic background radiation easily (kinda) lies within it. We return back to Rosetta and Mike brings up the news about the scientist who was criticized for this shirt while he was on camera. We give a brief (or not) tangent on how the ancient egyptian language was cracked via the rosetta stone before we get back to the pactual comet 67P.

Max and Doug met earlier that day and did some calculations on finding the density of the comet. They were calculating based on the bounce time of the probe and trying to match the given values. There were a lot of problems and we also tried to get the answers before and during the show with no success. We bring up the topic again in future podcasts.

Enjoy,

--Mike, Dan, Doug, Max, and Dillon

Part 2

We start this podcast off by drinking the last of the Lost Abbey brews. Thank you Max for bringing in these beers. This was a well rounded beer, and spoiler alert: Doug cannot tell the difference between citrus and cloves.

Two items are discussed in this podcast.

Section 1:  The 8 books that NDGT thinks that every educated person should read. We read off Neil's reasoning for selecting each book and then give out takes on the books. Then we try and come up with better books we think would satisfy the same criteria...or just better in general. Mike reads 4chan's \b version of the bible. Normally we digress but books and science books especially are 'sacred' to us, and we actually spend time trying to present better books for people to read.

Of course we laugh and have a good time doing it.

Section 2: Predicting what's going on in 2050.

Podcast 9 - Part 2 and 3

Intro

We are back for part 2. We start still pissed off that we drank the Fosters, and make that claim that it is the worst beer that we have ever had on the podcast. It does not hold that title for very long. 559 Peach beer takes that title in short order. Doug issues an semi-apology to Connie and explains the triple photon entanglement to the best of his knowledge. He hedges his bet and promises to explain it in more detail in the future. Next we move on to describing the new beer that we are trying in the studio. Read the beer blog for details. Danielle sends in a joke, and Max takes some time to read it on air. The ending is horrible, but we got some laughs out of it. Doug takes some time to answer a question from one of our twitter followers. In the end I think we all agree that all stories from Russia are like gold. Going on ten podcasts in and Russia never fails to amaze. In the pseudoscience corner Dan relates a conversation that he had with a friend of his about Kegan water. Apparently (scarasm) there is a device that compresses water and separates it into OH and HO (same thing). One is 'good' for drinking, while the other is 'good' on your skin. The science is bad but we had a lot of fun. We end the podcast with Mike giving 3 minutes of equal time for a UC Riverside professor named Reza who shows a group of CNN anchors what a bunch of ass clowns they really are. Everyone is a creationist, and this marks the first time that our Equal Time segment was kinda-actually equal time.
